National Night Out
This year’s National Night Out, falls on Tuesday, August 5th. Night Out is a national event promoted by Seattle Police Crime Prevention to heighten crime prevention awareness, increase neighborhood support in prevention efforts, and unite our communities. You can register your event, find instructions on applying for (non-arterial) street closures, signs and other materials in English and eight other languages Seattle Police Department’s Night Out Web page. This is a great opportunity to connect with neighbors old and new. West Precinct Officers and Command staff will visit your event as staffing levels and call loads permit.

August Primary Ballots Due Aug 5th
August Primary Ballots have arrived! Seattle will be voting for: mayor, city attorney, three seats on the Seattle City Council (Magnolia will vote on the two citywide seats), three on the Seattle School Board (Magnolia will vote on District 2), the Democracy Voucher program and extension of the King County’s parks levy.
Don’t forget! Ballots must be postmarked by Election Day, Aug. 5th. Magnolia’s drop box for ballots is located at 1461 Magnolia Blvd W.
July 28 is the last day to register online to vote. King County Elections will have vote centers open for those who need assistance or have missed deadlines. You can register to vote in person during business hours and anytime before 8 p.m. on Election Day.

City Attorney Candidate Forum, Hosted by the QACC & Uptown Alliance
This is a critical election year for Seattle, with the Mayor, King County Executive, city-wide Council positions 8 & 9, along with the City Attorney all up for election. In Magnolia, we will also be closely following the race for our Seattle School Board District seat.
Ballots will be mailed mid-June for the August 5th primary. In a rare pre-primary forum, you can hear directly from all four candidates running for Seattle's critical City Attorney seat on Wednesday, June 2nd via at a Zoom forum starting at 7 PM.
This event is organized by the Queen Anne Community Council and Uptown Alliance, with support from MCC. Feel free to submit questions in advance to queenannecc@gmail.com and sign-up to attend to attend HERE.

Fort Lawton Redevelopment Draft SEIS Comment Meeting
The Office of Housing has published the final Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Study for the Fort Lawton Redevelopment. There will be an in-person opportunity to provide public comment at Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center on May 21 from 6-8 p.m.

The Magnolia Chorale Presents “Harmonies of Hope”
Magnolia Chorale after 35th anniversary concert May 2024.
Magnolia Chorale will perform its spring concert— “Harmonies of Hope”—on May 3 & 4th at Magnolia Lutheran Church. This unique repertoire explores the struggles of war, a longing for peace, and the hope that carries us forward.
The pieces range from R. Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem, a powerful and deeply moving plea for peace, to “Una Sanõsa Porfía” a Renaissance piece by Juan del Encina, to the poignant “We’ll Meet Again” ballad from World War II. A special highlight will be Naomi
LaViolette’s “Racing the Moon” winner of Magnolia Chorale’s inaugural “Call for Scores”.
